PLM Education in Production Design and Production Engineering by e-Learning

The technique for efficiently managing management resources by ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and SCM (Supply-Chain Management) has been widely introduced in the manufacturing business before. Recently, PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) to which ERP and SCM is enhanced is spreading. PLM is paid to attention now by the technique for managing the product planning, the design, manufacturing, sales, and abandonment in total. The TF21 group of eLPCO (Research Center for e-Learning Professional Competency) in Reserach Insittute of Aoyama Gakuin University researches the business process and the educational method of the PLM orientation in the manufacturing business. In this project, the lesson of PLM intended for the mid-level employee in the enterprise is developed. This lesson has two educational objectives. First, the mechanism of PLM in the new product development by the e-Learning is understood. Second, the human resource that can plan the business maneuver in the business and can do the decision making is developed. Moreover, the e-Learning is effective as the educational method to achieve this educational objective. We think that not only knowledge and the theory but also practical educational methods by the case study using e-Learning are necessary for the human resources development of PLM. In this paper, we discuss the educational method and the class content design for the human resources development of the PLM orientation in the production design and the production engineering.
